Metinvest built 200 km of fortifications in Donetsk region and Zaporizhzhia

Metinvest group, throgh Steel Front military initiative, continues the construction of fortification lines for the Armed Forces at the front. The total length of the defensive structures reached more than 200 km. This is stated in the press release of Metinvest.Media.

The construction of engineering and fortification structures is carried out together with the military and military-civilian administrations in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia areas. In addition to engaging the company’s specialists, Metinvest provides materials and special equipment for building defense lines to prevent the advance of the enemy.

In total, Metinvest supplied 20,720 cubic meters for construction. meters of timber, 100,300 square meters of geotextile and mesh for strengthening trenches and trenches. In the fortifications, 43 shelters – underground shelters, which the company produces from corrugated steel – were used. The defense line will provide protection for personnel, equipment and ammunition from enemy attacks, and will also serve as a shelter for soldiers to rest.

«Defending one’s own is a concept that is broader than job instructions or prescriptions. This is an internal need to defend one’s right to life and work, to freedom of decision. That is why “Metinvest” joined the joint work with the Armed Forces on the creation of defense lines. We cannot stand aside, because we know that our experience, resources, and knowledge can be converted into reliable protection for the defenders and those whom they cover with their backs – ordinary Ukrainians, each of us. We hope that the fortifications will significantly increase the effectiveness of defense measures,» said Oleksandr Myronenko, operational director of Metinvest.

The work is carried out together with the engineering units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Metinvest provides all the materials and labor for free.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest Group, taking into account associated companies and joint ventures, in January-June 2024 increased the deduction of taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels of Ukraine by 56% compared to the same period in 2023 – up to UAH 9.9 billion.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Metinvest Group has directed more than 6.9 billion UAH to help Ukraine and its citizens, of which more than 3.4 billion UAH  to the needs of the army within the framework of the military initiative Steel Front.
