Maersk adds a vessel to the route between Chornomorsk and Constanta

Another container ship, the Commander, will operate on Maersk’s service between the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk and Constanta, Romania. This is stated in the message of Maersk Ukraine.

Starting this week, the service will be operated by four vessels.

«Starting this week, the Chornomorsk – Constanza service will be operated by four vessels: Pros Hope, T Moon, T Mare and Commander,» the statement said.

Commander is a 5788 dwt general cargo vessel that flies the flag of Vanuatu.

Maersk recently launched the first container service to the ports of Greater Odesa after the outbreak of full-scale war. At the same time, Turkish shipping company Akkon launched a feeder service with its own vessels to Chornomorsk.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukrainian seaports handled 1.5 million tons of iron ore in May 2024, up from 241 thousand tons in May 2023. In total, 8.26 million tons of cargo were handled in the period, which is almost twice as much as in the same period last year. In May, cargo turnover through the Ukrainian corridor amounted to 6.7 million tons, of which 4.5 million tons were products of Ukrainian farmers.

In total, in January-May 2024, Ukrainian ports handled 45.8 million tons of cargo. These volumes are almost twice as high as in the same period of 2023.
