Lemtrans invested UAH 478 million in logistics and infrastructure projects in 2024

Lemtrans, the largest private freight operator in Ukraine, allocated more than UAH 478 million for infrastructure and logistics projects in 2024, which is three times higher than in 2023, when investments amounted to more than UAH 160 million. This is stated in the company’s press release.

The main areas were investments of UAH 441 million in the terminal and container business. In the second half of 2024, the new Vinnytsia Container Terminal was opened. Lemtrans also implemented an investment program aimed at maintaining its railcar fleet and further improving the efficiency of its railcar repair facilities.

“Despite the challenges of wartime, we continue to invest in new infrastructure projects. The opening of such a terminal will contribute to business development across various industries — both for large exporters and small shippers. The terminal in Vinnytsia expands access for Ukrainian enterprises to global markets, supporting the growth of export-import operations. This is especially important in the current environment, when economic stability is one of Ukraine’s key priorities,” said Lemtrans CEO Volodymyr Mezentsev.

The company’s total transportation volume last year amounted to 15.9 million tons. The key cargoes are coal – 10.9 million tons (13.5 million tons in 2023), iron ore – 2.3 million tons (0.4 million tons), and construction materials – 2.01 million tons (2.9 million tons).

“Starting from the third quarter, coal transportation decreased due to Russia’s massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Damage to production assets led to a reduction in transportation volumes by shippers,” the company added.

In 2024, Lemtrans Group companies paid over UAH 712 million in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels. In particular, approximately UAH 647 million was transferred to the state budget. Local budgets were replenished by UAH 66 million. In addition, the Group paid over UAH 59 million in single social tax.

The volume of scheduled and current repairs of freight cars over 12 months reached 5,635 units.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2023, Lemtrans paid UAH 929 million in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels of Ukraine. Investments in the country’s infrastructure and logistics projects amounted to over UAH 160 million, and the total volume of cargo transported was approximately 17 million tons.
