Lemtrans, the largest private operator of railway rolling stock in Ukraine, is completing the construction of a new container terminal in Vinnytsia. It is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2024. This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the company’s data.
It is noted, that at the first stage, the railway infrastructure and the first container yard with a capacity of about 30 thousand TEU per year will be built, as well as two 1520 mm railways.
The terminal will handle containers with various export and import cargoes. This will make it possible to establish regular container services between the terminal in Vinnytsia and major terminals in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as to connect the terminal in Vinnytsia with the ports of Greater Odesa.
“The terminal in Vinnytsia is a continuation of our strategy to develop a network of terminals across Ukraine, which will allow us to become a starting point for Ukrainian products. We plan to connect our network with Ukrainian and European ports through the railway network and, accordingly, our other terminals,” Lemtrans explains.
As GMK Center reported earlier, the Mostyska container terminal (Mostyska Dry Port) handled more than 72.4 thousand TEU of containerized cargo in 2023. The consolidated volume of general, bulk and liquid cargo handling increased to 286 thousand tons, in particular:
