KZHRK reduced sinter ore production by 24.7% y/y in October

In October 2023, Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant (KZHRK) reduced the production of commercial iron ore from underground mining by 24.7% compared to the same month in 2022 – to 113 thousand tons. This is stated in the company’s corporate newspaper.

Compared to September 2023, in October, sinter ore production at KZHRK fell by 16.3%.

In October 2023, Ternivska mine produced 40 thousand tons of commercial ore, which is equal to the previous month and 33.3% more than in October 2022. Kozatska mine reduced production by 60% m/m and 75% y/y – to 10 thousand tons. Pokrovska mine reduced production by 42.5% y/y and 34.3% m/m – to 23 thousand tons. Kryvorizka mine increased sinter ore production by 14.3% m/m – up to 35 thousand tons.

In January-October 2023, the plant produced 1.903 million tons of sinter ore, down 28.3% year-on-year:

  • Ternivska mine – 460 thousand tons (-35.2% y/y);
  • Kozatska – 410.4 thousand tons (-42.6%);
  • Pokrovska – 445.6 thousand tons (-18.5%);
  • Kryvorizka – 587 thousand tons (-13.9%).

The company’s production plan for extracting commercial iron ore in October 2023 was completed by 75.3%.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022 KZHRK reduced production of commercial iron ore from underground mining by 33.3% compared to 2021 – to 2.89 million tons.

In the 12 months of 2022, the Ternivska mine produced 770,000 tons of marketable ore (-34% y/y), Kozatska – 783,000 tons (-29.1% y/y), Pokrovska – 582 thousand tons (-10.2% y/y), and Kryvorizka – 753 thousand tons (-46.6% y/y).

Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant (KZRK) is the largest producer of sinter ore in Ukraine. Most of its production volume is exported to Eastern Europe. KZHRK operates four underground mines. Its reserves amount to 210 million tons of rich iron ores, 58.6% Fe.
