Kametstal set up 13 new types of steel products in 2024

In 2024, Kametstal mastered the production of 13 new types of steel products, including 12 in the long products segment. This was the company’s key contribution to expanding the overall product range of Metinvest Group, which introduced 20 new products to the market this year. This is stated in the company’s press release.

The BOF Shop improved the production of square continuously cast billets with improved chemical and structural properties. This became possible due to the development of stop-casting technology, which protects the steel jet from oxidation and meets the increased requirements of European consumers.

The plant’s rolling shop added 12 new rolled products, including 9.5 and 11.5 mm rebar for construction. The new products help to reduce metal consumption in the construction of concrete structures without losing strength. In 2024, Kametstal also received certificates of compliance with Polish construction standards and produced 18 thousand tons of B500B rebar for the Polish market.

Wire rod made of new steel grades was also added to the product range: six new items meet the demand in both domestic and foreign markets. In April, the production of SVP-33 profiles for the mining industry was launched, and in May, hot-rolled rounds with a diameter of 27 mm for the machine building industry.

“The rolling shop team has successfully fulfilled the 2024 targets, thereby maintaining Kametstal’s leading position in the development of new products and our reputation as a customer-oriented manufacturer. Our specialists have once again confirmed that they are able to respond accurately to customer requests in the current challenging conditions of the Ukrainian and European metal markets, to master new types of rolled products in demand, including those based on individual orders, in a timely and professional manner. We are not stopping on this path and from the first days of the new year we are already starting to work on the implementation of the 2025 New Products Development Program,” said Aleksandr Oliynyk, Chief Rolling Officer of the enterprise.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest Group’s steelmaking facilities in Ukraine launched 20 new products in 2024. Most of the new products were launched in the long products segment (12), cold-rolled coils and sheets (4), hot-rolled coils and sheets (2), and galvanized coils and semi-finished products (1 each).
