Kametstal performs overhaul of turbo-blowers No. 1

Kametstal Iron and Steel Works performs a large-scale overhaul of the turbine blowers No. 1 (TPD-1) in terms of time and tasks. The unit provides a stable supply of blast to blast furnaces. This is stated in the press release of the enterprise.

As part of the overhaul, it is planned to restore and replace key equipment throughout the TPD-1 technological chain. In particular, significant repair intervention requires a steam turbine.

Considerable attention is paid to the revision and restoration of auxiliary equipment of turbo-blowers. In particular, two condensate pumps will be replaced with new ones, in the future, power engineers hope for their trouble-free work, which will reduce the loss of condensate water when it is returned to the boiler shop. Low-pressure heaters, ejectors are also repaired, which ensure the removal of air from the water chambers during the start-up of the condenser, shutoff valves, etc.

Power engineers perform the main task – to restore the blast of the specified parameters for the blast furnace shop, while reducing the specific costs of steam and ensuring reliable and energy-efficient operation of the equipment of the unit.

As part of the overhaul plan to modernize the system of regulation and protection of TPD-1. Thanks to the new modern electronic equipment and software, it is possible to completely switch to automatic adjustment of the blast supply parameters according to the needs of the blast furnace shop and minimize the loss of blast enriched with oxygen.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in early July, Kametstal began one of the most ambitious repairs of 2024 – a 45-day overhaul with a mixer refueling. The unit with a capacity of 2.5 thousand tons performs the technological preparation of liquid cast iron – equalizing the temperature and averaging the chemical composition before it is supplied to the converter compartment and poured into the converters.
