Kametstal has expanded its line of longitudinal shaped sections SVP

Kametstal has expanded its line of longitudinal shaped sections at the rolling mill of the rolling shop. In April, the first batch of SVP-33 was rolled for Pokrovske Mine. This is stated in the company’s press release.

Last year, for the first time in Ukraine, the plant mastered the production of SVP-27 longitudinal shaped sections designed to secure mine workings in mines in a pipe billet mill. Previously, SVP profiles were produced at Azovstal’s section rolling mill.

The highly professional team of the enterprise worked on the development of this product, which is in demand by Ukrainian mining companies. They effectively implemented the existing experience in developing the IED profile.

During the development of the headstock rebar on the 900 stand, design changes were made that add stability to the process of rolling high quality sections. Based on these developments, the mill fittings were manufactured at Zaporizhzhia Foundry and Mechanical Plant.

«Mastering the SVP-33 profile is one of the successful results of April for the rolling shop. We are restoring the product mix that was partially lost due to the hostilities and is in high demand among domestic consumers, while expanding Kametstal’s margin products and improving the company’s efficiency. The first 500 tons of the new mine support are ready for shipment to our miners from Pokrovsk who, despite the impending hostilities, continue to work with us for the Ukrainian economy,» comments Artem Laptev, Deputy Head of the Rolling Shop at the Pipe Billets Shop.

As GMK Center previously reported, in Q1 2024, Kametstal reduced steel and pig iron production by 5% quarter-on-quarter to 469 kt and 403 kt, respectively. The decline was mainly due to the shutdown of blast furnace No. 9 in March for a scheduled overhaul.
