Interpipe’s railway production capacity is 100% utilized

Last year, Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe sold more than 80 thousand tons of railway products to the European market, with its production capacity utilized at 100%, Aleksandr Garkavyi, Director of Interpipe’s Railway Products Division, told Forbes Ukraine.

According to the publication, Interpipe supplies railway products to all European countries, with freight sales stretching from Spain to Slovakia, from the Scandinavian countries to Greece.

In 2024, sales of the company’s railway products in Europe exceeded the level of 2021.

“We are currently supplying our European customers with more volumes than we did before the war. Of course, the launch of a new wheelset assembly shop helped us a lot. But this was our strategy. We were preparing our facilities and commercial contacts to increase supplies to the EU,” said Garkavyi.

Initially, annual production volumes of wheelsets for the European direction did not exceed 10 thousand tons per year. However, thanks to the launch of a new large wheelset assembly shop in the winter of 2022, just before the large-scale invasion, the annual production level is 18.6 thousand units with almost 100% capacity utilization. The company plans to invest in their expansion to assemble 22.5 thousand wheelsets for Europe in 2026.

In February, Interpipe celebrated its 5th anniversary in the Iberian gauge market. The company is expanding its presence in Europe, strengthening its position in the niche market.

The company made the first delivery of ULT SP wheelsets under the KLW brand for railways with Iberian gauge at the end of 2019. Over the past five years, Interpipe has shipped more than 7,800 of these wheelsets for European rail traffic, which confirms the high demand for these products.
