Interpipe appoints Vitaliy Chekmez as Vice President of pipe sales for the Ukrainian market

Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has announced the appointment of Vitaliy Chekmez as vice president of pipe sales for the Ukrainian market. He took up his new position on January 5, 2026, according to a statement from Interpipe.

Vitaliy Chekmez has over 15 years of experience in the Ukrainian pipe industry. He has held executive and management positions, including at Ukrtruboizol, where he was responsible for sales, finance management, and business development. He has extensive experience in strategy development, contract fulfillment, process optimization, and customer relationship development in Ukraine.

In his new position, he will focus on ensuring the development of the Ukrainian market and representing Interpipe’s core values and principles.

“We are pleased to welcome Vitaliy Chekmez as Vice President of Pipe Sales for the Ukrainian market. His in-depth knowledge of the industry, proven management effectiveness, and proven experience in strategic growth will be a valuable asset to the company,” said Afif Najjar, Commercial Director of Interpipe.

It should be noted that at the end of 2024, Interpipe increased its sales of pipe products on the domestic market by 19% year-on-year, to 96,000 tons of pipes. In the first half of 2025, this figure grew by 17.8% compared to the first half of 2024, to 53,000 tons of pipes.

Earlier, in an interview with GMK Center, Vitaliy Chekmez spoke about the activities of mini-metallurgical plants in Ukraine that produce large-diameter steel pipes. Although the volume of activity in this segment is relatively small, the products of the four existing manufacturers are in demand and are extremely important for certain consumer groups.
