Ukraine’s industrial production fell by 2.6% year-on-year in February of this year. This is according to data from the State Statistics Service (SSS).
For the January–February period, the indicator fell by 4.6% year-on-year.
According to the State Statistics Service, the industrial production index for January–February of this year, compared to the same period in 2025, stood at 95.4%, including 98. 3%, in manufacturing – 97.7%, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and conditioned air – 83.5%.
In the steel industry, the industrial production index for the two months compared to January–February 2025 stood at 91.4%, and in metal ore mining—76%.
As a reminder, last year industrial production in Ukraine declined by 2.4% year-on-year, compared to a 3.6% year-on-year increase in 2024. The slowdown was caused by a combination of factors, such as high energy costs, power outages due to Russian shelling, attacks on oil and gas production facilities, rising production costs and declining competitiveness, as well as a labor shortage.
As reported by GMK Center, Ukraine’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2025, according to preliminary data from the State Statistics Service, slowed to 1.8% from 3.2% in 2024. According to the statistics agency’s calculations, nominal GDP last year amounted to 8.93 trillion UAH.
