In September 2021, industrial production in Ukraine shrank by 0.7% compared to September last year, while in August it grew by 0.6%, according to the State Statistics Service.
In September 2021, production of steel and finished metal products fell by 7.8%, mining of iron ores by 7% compared to the previous month. Compared to the same month of 2020, the output in the steel industry remained flat, while the volumes of ore mining increased by 3.5%.
With adjustment for the effect of calendar days, the fall in industrial production in September was more significant — 0.9%. Compared to August 2021, the non-adjusted indicator grew by 2.9%, whereas the seasonally adjusted indicator fell by 1.8%.
In January–September, industrial production in Ukraine increased by 1.4% y-o-y.
In 9M, production of steel and finished metal products jumped by 6.3%, and mining of iron ores by 4.5% y-o-y.
In 2020, industrial production in Ukraine declined by 5.2% against 2019. Last year, production of steel and finished metal products decreased by 9.1%, whereas mining of iron ores by 2.4%.
