In April 2020, industrial production in Ukraine shrank by 16.2% compared to April last year. A decline was 7.7% in March, 1.5% in February and 5.1% in January,
according to the State Statistics Service.
At the same time, with adjustment for the effect of calendar days, industrial production in April was somewhat larger, 16.7% against 8.6% in March.
In April, production of steel and finished metal products declined by 29.9%, production of iron ores by 15.6% against April last year.
Over the first four months of this year, industrial production in Ukraine fell by 7.9% compared to the same period of the past year.
In January–April, production of steel and finished steel products dropped by 15.4% and production of iron ores by 6.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
As reported earlier, a steady downward trend in Ukraine’s industrial production continues since last June.
In 2019, industrial production in Ukraine declined by 1.8% against 2018. Last year, production of steel and finished steel products decreased by 3.1%, whereas production of iron ores remained unchanged.
