In Lviv region, non-functioning railway tracks to the Polish border will be relaunched

In Lviv region, the railway tracks to the Polish border to be relaunched, URM reported.

The railway line is located on the territory of Khyriv and Dobromyl territorial communities. Employees of the Department of Transport and Communications together with “Лінія ю.а.” initiative, the regional branch of Lviv Railway and design organizations inspected the site.

Territorial communities have declared their readiness to the charterers for the development of design and estimate documentation for the repair of this line. Technical details that need to be taken into account when developing the documentation were identified.

At the same time, a mechanism is being developed to restore the railway connection Zaguzh (Poland) – Khyriv (Ukraine) with the extension of the route in the direction of Nizhankovychi (Ukraine) – Przemyśl (Poland).

“At the Europe of the Carpathians conference, Ukraine and Poland reaffirmed the importance of restoring this connection, as well as other checkpoints that are currently closed, and declared the continuation of work on this project. The participants of the conference stressed the importance of restoring the once existing lines for redirecting the export of Ukrainian products from blocked ports and using the capacity of railway transport,” said Yuriy Buchko, head of Lviv regional administration.

Earlier GMK Center reported that Ukraine and Moldova signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of railway communication between the countries. According to the document, In the autumn of 2022, the movement of freight trains on the section of the railway Berezino (Ukraine) – Bessarabia (Moldova) to be resumed.
