In January-June 2022, Ukrainian steel plants reduced the production of rolled steel by 41.6% compared to the same period in 2021, to 4.02 million tons, according to the early data from Ukrmetalurgprom association.
Iron smelting in six months decreased by 42.1% compared to January-June 2021, to 4.54 million tons. Steel production during this period fell by 41.8%, to 4.54 million tons.
In the first quarter of 2022 Ukrainian steel plants reduced steel production by 31.2% compared to the same period in 2021, to 3.64 million tons. Iron smelting decreased by 34.1%, to 3.49 million tons, and the production of rolled products fell by 34.2%, to 3,12 million tons.
Earlier GMK Center reported that in 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers increased steel production by 3.6% compared to 2020, to 21.37 million tons. Production of rolled products increased by 3.5%, to 19.08 million tons, and pig iron production increased by 3.6%, to 21.17 million tons.
