In August, ore mining exceeded the industrial production pace by 11 pp

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, mining of iron ores increased by 9.2% across the country in August compared to the same period of the previous year, while industrial production decreased by 1.6%.

Therefore, the growth pace in the iron ore mining segment exceeded the pace of industrial production by 10.8 percentage points.

At the same time, steelmaking and production of finished metal products shrank in August by 3.2%.

In the first eight months of 2019, industrial production in Ukraine increased by 0.1% compared to the same period a year earlier.

In January to August, the metals & mining sector of Ukraine increased iron ore mining by 3.8%, while steelmaking and production of finished metal products increased by 2.7%.

According to GMK Center, in the first half of 2019, industrial production in Ukraine increased by 0.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first six months, production in the metals & mining sector increased in the following segments: iron ore mining — 2.7%, steelmaking and production of finished metal products — 1.8%.

In 2018, industrial production in Ukraine grew by 1.1%.
