Hydnum Steel has signed a strategic agreement with Gonvarri Industries

Hydnum Steel (HS), the first green steel plant in Spain, has announced the signing of a contract worth approximately €1 billion with Spanish multinational Gonvarri Industries to supply green steel for the initial seven years of operation. This is stated in the message of Hydnum Steel.

The agreement between HS and Gonvarri is aimed at promoting the use of green steel in various industries, including construction, energy and the automotive sector, providing high quality products that meet the most stringent environmental standards.

The two companies will also work together to optimize logistics to ensure efficient deliveries, develop low-emission transportation solutions and promote green steel in Spain and Europe.

“Green steel is essential to meet the sustainability standards demanded by our customers and society,” said Gonvarri CEO Josu Calvo.

He added that the agreement with Hydnum Steel reinforces this commitment.

Hydnum Steel is currently building an innovative green steel plant in Puerto Rico, Spain. It is planned that the initial production volume will be 1.5 million tons of rolled steel per year. It will be increased to 2.6 million tons per year in subsequent stages.

Gonvarri Industries is a Spanish multinational company specializing in the processing of flat steel products, aluminum and metal solutions for industries such as renewable energy, infrastructure and the automotive sector. It operates 59 plants in 21 countries.

Hydnum Steel will cooperate with Euroports, one of the leading port and logistics operators in Europe, to develop integrated logistics solutions that will optimize the steel supply chain on the continent. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding in September.
