Exports of Ukrainian pipes grew by 8.3% in May

According to the consolidated customs statistics posted on the website of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, in May, Ukrainian tube producers increased exports of pipes by 8.3%, up to $60 million. Pipe exports grew by 9%, up to 54.3 thousand tons.

In January to May, Ukraine exported 260 thousand tons of pipes worth $288.2 million, including 186.7 thousand tons of seamless pipes amounting to $243.3 million. Exports of other pipes and tubes totaled 64.6 thousand tons worth $39.4 million. Exports of other pipes and tubes of more than 406.4 mm in diameter ranked third, 7.7 thousand tons amounting to $5.6 million.

The structure of export of seamless pipes by countries is as follows: the U.S. (20.5%), Russia (14%) and Germany (12.9%).

Poland imported a half of other pipes and tubes.

Nearly 65% of other pipes and tubes of more than 406.4 mm in diameter were bought by the U.S.

In January to May, Ukraine imported 48.4 thousand tons of pipes worth $77.8 million, including 26.5 thousand tons of seamless pipes worth $42.9 million, 6.5 thousand tons of pipes and tubes of more than 406.4 mm in diameter — $8.2 million, and 15.3 thousand tons of other pipes and tubes — $26.7 million.

Ukraine imported seamless pipes predominantly from China (41%) and Russia (21.4%), other pipes and tubes – from Italy (39%) and China (23%), and pipes and tubes of more than 406.4 mm in diameter – from Turkey (nearly 87%).

The main producers of pipes in Ukraine are Interpipe NIKO TUBE LLC, Interpipe NTRP, DMZ Kominmet, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, Interpipe NMPP, Trubostal, Centravis, Dnipropetrovsk Pipe Plant and Slavsant. Khartsyzk and Luhansk pipe plants are in the non-government controlled territory.

As reported earlier, exports of pipes from Ukraine in April dropped by 12.8%, down to $55.4 million, against  a 1.4%, or $62.5 million, increase in March.
