EUROFER has filed a petition for an anti-dumping investigation into Turkish hot-rolled coil

The European Steel Association (EUROFER) has filed a petition with the European Commission for an anti-dumping investigation into imports of cold-rolled coil (CRC) from Turkey. This was reported by Steel Orbis with reference to the General Directorate of Imports of the country’s Ministry of Trade.

The investigation has not yet begun. The petition includes Turkish producers Atakş Çelik, Çolakoğlu Metalurji, Diler Holding, Erdemir, Gazi Metal, Göktaş Metal, Habaş, Kibar Holding, MMK Metalurji, Tat Metal, Tezcan Galvaniz, Tosyalı-Toyo, and Yildiz Demir Celik.

The goods under investigation fall under the following customs tariff codes: 7209.15.00, 7209.16.90, 7209.17.90, 7209.18.91, 7209.18.99, 7209.25.00, 7209.26.90, 7209.27.90, 7209.28.90, 7211.23.30, 7211.23.80, 7211. 29.00, 7225.50.80 and 7226.92.00 (TARIC codes 7209.15.00.90, 7209.18.99.90, 7209.25.00.90, 7211.23.80. 19, 7211.23.80.95, 7211.23.80.99, 7211.29.00.19 and 7211.29.00.99.

According to SteelBazaar, based on EUROFER data, Turkish CRC is exported to the EU at prices below fair market value, creating an uneven playing field and causing significant damage to steel producers in the bloc.

According to market sources, the European Commission is preparing for a new anti-dumping investigation into imports of cold-rolled coils (CRC) from India, Japan, and Taiwan. Several of them noted that the EC has notified exporters from Indian mills and possibly other companies that will be affected by this case. Some market participants expect the European Commission to make an announcement on the trade case by the end of September. The bloc already applies anti-dumping duties on imports of CRC from China and Russia.
