EEC extended duties on Ukraine-made steel pipes until February 2022

The Department of Domestic Market Protection of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has extended an anti-dumping duty on certain types of Ukraine-made steel pipes for a period of repeated investigation, according to the Department’s press service.

The applicable duty was supposed to expire on 1 June 2021, but was extended until 7 February 2022 due to a repeated investigation.

“The information in the statement of claim enabled the Department to make preliminary conclusions on possible extension of dumping imports of Ukraine-made steel pipes and on damage to the economy of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union. Based on the results of the claim examination, a repeated anti-dumping investigation was launched on 8 February 2021,” the EEC stressed.

Pursuant to the EEC’s applicable rules, a repeated anti-dumping investigation must be completed within 12 months from the date of its opening.

The anti-dumping measure was imposed on 22 June 2011; in June 2016, it was extended until June 2021. The duty amount was set at the level of 18.9% to 37.8%, depending on a manufacturing company and product type.

As GMK Center reported earlier, the EEC initiated a repeated anti-dumping investigation concerning Ukraine-made seamless pipes of stainless steel in October 2020. The reason is the expiry of the anti-dumping duty.
