Dredging work was completed by 90% in the port of Izmail

In the port of Izmail, the work on the restoration of the passport depths, planned for 2022, has almost been completed. According to operational data, 90.7% of the plan was completed, reports the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration on the Facebook page.

Dredging is also being carried out in parallel with other seaports located on the Danube, in particular, works in the water area of the port of Reni are in the active phase. So far, 19% of the planned volume has been completed there.

Work in operational water areas is planned in such a way as not to slow down cargo processing.

According to Oleksiy Vostrikov, the head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, restoration of passport depths is necessary to effectively develop the transit potential of the Danube logistics cluster.

“Thanks to effective cooperation with partners from Romania and the implementation of the transparent planning of ship calls’ practice, we keep a high pace of cargo processing. We see a request from the participants of the maritime transport market to increase the transit potential of the Danube ports and fulfill it. The ultimate goal is to optimize the logistics component of strategic export and import operations and increase the volume of cargo transshipment,” noted Oleksiy Vostrikov.

As GMK Center reported earlier, during the day, on August 27, 2022, 11 ships with a total cargo volume of 45,000 tons passed through the Bystre estuary and the Romanian Sulina canal in the direction of the Ukrainian Danube ports. Thus, the Danube ports of Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaisk received a record number of ships per day since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.

As GMK Center wrote before, the Kiliya Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Plant, which is a part of Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, has repaired 36 units of the fleet since the beginning of 2022. In 9 months of 2022, UDP invested more than UAH 75 million in ship repair, and in the third quarter – more than UAH 45 million.
