Domestic prices for hot-rolled steel and pipes rose by 9–10% in May

Domestic prices for a number of construction-grade rolled steel products rose sharply in May. Last month, prices for hot-rolled sheets increased by 9.2% to 41,700 UAH per ton. Quotes for shaped and round pipes increased by 9.9% and 9.7%—to 45,500 and 46,500 UAH per ton, respectively.

This is evidenced by the dynamics of the composite price index for construction-grade rolled products of the Ukrainian Steel Construction Center Association.

Since the beginning of the year, prices for construction-grade steel products have risen across all categories:

  • 100×4 profile pipe — by 18.8%, to 45,500 UAH per ton;
  • 114×4 round pipe — by 18.3%, to 46,500 UAH per ton;
  • hot-rolled sheet 5–14 mm — by 18.3%, to 41,700 UAH per ton;
  • angle bar 63×5 — by 9.3%, to 37,300 UAH per ton;
  • channel section No. 18 — by 4.3%, to 61,300 UAH per ton;
  • beam No. 20 — by 3.5%, to 41,600 UAH per ton.

According to estimates by Metinvest-SMC, the capacity of the rebar segment in the Ukrainian domestic market grew by 14% in 2025, reaching 754,000 tons. Consumption of beams, angles, and channels increased by 14% to 180,000 tons. The hot-rolled steel segment recorded a 12% increase to 997,000 tons.

Total consumption of metal products in the Ukrainian market (excluding polymer-coated rolled products, seamless pipes, stainless steel rolled products, and tinplate) in 2025 increased by 12% year-on-year and amounted to 3.4 million tons.
