Domestic prices for construction steel products rose slightly in August

The growth in prices for construction metal products in August ranged from 0.21% to 1.36%. Prices remained stable throughout most of the period, rising slightly at the end of the month.

These data are based on the dynamics of the consolidated price index for construction rolled products of the Ukrainian Steel Construction Center Association.

The increase in prices for steel products for construction in August was very insignificant:

  • 100*4 profile pipe – by 1.36% to UAH 37.3 thousand per ton;
  • round pipe 114*4 – by 1.32% to UAH 38.3 thousand per ton;
  • angle bar 63*5 – by 0.64% to UAH 33 thousand per ton;
  • hot-rolled sheet 5-14 mm – by 0.55% to UAH 34.7 thousand per ton;
  • beam No. 20 – by 0.42% to UAH 39.8 thousand per ton;
  • channel bar No. 18 – by 0.21% to UAH 58.1 thousand per ton.

Prices largely depend on the level of demand for metal products, which has remained fairly low since the beginning of the year. According to the results for January-June, the volume of construction work completed in Ukraine grew by only 2.4% y/y, compared to last year’s growth of 18.6% y/y. The situation has been significantly complicated by an 8.7% y/y decline in the volume of engineering infrastructure construction, which had previously been a driver of growth for the entire construction industry.

As GMK Center reported earlier, the volume of metal products consumption in the Ukrainian market (excluding polymer-coated rolled products, stainless rolled products, and tinplate) in the first half of 2025 increased by 13% y-o-y and amounted to 1.65 million tons. However, taking into account the increase in metal traders’ inventories by 120+ thousand tons since the beginning of the year, the real growth in market capacity in January-June amounted to about 9% y/y.
