DMZ produced 8,100 tons of steel products in April

The Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ) successfully completed its rolling campaign in April, with total production reaching 8,100 metric tons of steel products. The plant produced a wide range of rolled products and continued to implement production projects, according to the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

The rolling mill operators prepared for the campaign in advance by repairing key equipment and modernizing the lighting and mechanical testing systems in Rolling Mill No. 2.

The key result was the stable operation of the mill throughout the campaign. From April 4 to 13, production was conducted in a two-shift mode with one 12-hour day off. Production of five types of rolled steel was launched: channels No. 14, 16, 20, 24, and 30. The largest share was accounted for by large batches of channel No. 30—ranging from 1,000 to 2,500 tons.

The company notes that production was carried out without metal losses and with economical use of energy resources, which positively impacted the campaign’s efficiency.

A separate achievement was the development of the continuous casting billet line. In April, a large industrial batch of No. 30 channel sections was rolled from billets using the new technology for the first time. Production volume for this profile amounted to 1,700 tons.

DMZ also completed a number of infrastructure projects. Specifically, in Shop No. 2, the integration of control stations for the billet feeding and loading sections into the heating furnaces was completed, the drives for the mechanisms were modernized, and video surveillance was installed.

A new batch of rolls is expected to arrive in May, and the company plans to conduct its next rolling campaign in June–July.

As a reminder, the companies of the DCH Steel Group—the Sukha Balka mine and the Dnipro Metallurgical Plant — paid UAH 142 million in taxes and fees to budgets at all levels in the first quarter.
