DMZ produced 6.4 thousand tons of rolled steel at rolling mill No. 2 in November

The Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMP), part of the DCH Steel group, produced 6,400 tons of finished steel products during its November rolling campaign in rolling shop No. 2 (RS No. 2), which lasted from November 12 to 22. This was reported in the company’s corporate newspaper.

The campaign was carried out without days off and was conducted in the most intense mode, as the team worked on a two-shift schedule for the first time due to a decrease in order volumes.

“The shop staff prepared well and successfully coped with the production tasks. They worked even faster than planned and did not allow significant energy overruns,” said Yuriy Mikhailiv, Deputy CEO for Production and Technology.

In November, DMZ produced a standard selection of channels from 14 to 30. It also rolled 1,400 tons of channels according to Euro standards U100, U120, U140, and U160, as well as small volumes of 125 angles and SVP-22 mine props. Taking into account the needs of the EU market, it was important for the company to quickly start and complete all items before the holiday peak demand, so deliveries of billets to the company began two weeks before the production campaign.

In addition, the rollers successfully switched to standard cast billets for channel bar 30. This was the last profile that had been manufactured from rolled billets until recently.

«In the summer, PC-2 mastered the production of channel bar 30 from cast billets: several rods were rolled. It was decided to combine experimental and industrial rolling during the campaign in November. The order was successfully completed: 750 tons of channel bar 30 were rolled. This is the final stage of the work that the shop has been carrying out since 2023 to reduce production costs,» the report says.

The company also continued testing rolls, a small batch of which was purchased abroad in the summer. Two rolls were installed on stands No. 5-6 during the rolling of channel bar 30. Based on the test results, the company plans to continue cooperation with the new supplier.

The shop also began mastering the production of Ø60 circles. The experiment showed that the shop has the potential to produce this profile.

The next production campaign in rolling shop No. 2 is planned for February.

It should be noted that DMZ is currently actively fulfilling orders for enterprises in the pipe industry, steel sector, and machine building in its specialized steel equipment repair shop. In general, the shop began manufacturing non-standard steel structures for third-party organizations in December 2024.
