DMZ produced 5.6 thousand tons of rolled steel during the July campaign

During the summer rolling campaign, which lasted from July 5 to 13, Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ) produced 5.6 thousand tons of metal products. Rolling mill No. 2 (PC-2) produced a full range of channels – from No. 10 to No. 30. This was reported in the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

The July campaign was an important milestone for the enterprise, as for the first time an industrial batch of channel bar No. 24 was rolled from a cast billet with a cross-section of 200×200 mm. The products fully comply with technical requirements.

In addition, the company conducted experimental rolling of channel bar No. 30 from cast billets – the last item that had previously been manufactured from rolled stock. Experts are currently analyzing the results of the experiment in order to adjust the production technology if necessary.

Last year, the shop began producing small-sized channels with a reduced weight per running meter. In July, lightweight channels No. 10, No. 12, and No. 14 were also rolled. Production continued without weekends, with three teams working on a tight schedule. After the completion of the campaign, PC-2 began shipping finished products and technical preparation for the next stage, scheduled for July-August.

Since 2023, almost all channels in accordance with DSTU and European standards (except No. 30) in PC-2 have been manufactured from cast billets, which has reduced production costs.

Another innovation in July was the opening of a retail warehouse and store for rolled metal products. It is located directly in the finished products section of rolling mill No. 2. It offers channels, angles, and other products. Customers can have rolled products cut to the required length and loaded by cranes. Orders can be paid for on site, either in cash or by card.

DMZ expects that the retail business will help increase product sales.

As a reminder, DMZ recently presented a comprehensive environmental modernization strategy as part of the European green course. The key areas are the construction of an electric steel melting complex (ESMC), the transition to renewable energy sources, and the complete decommissioning of coke production from May 13 of this year.

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant is one of the largest steel enterprises in Ukraine. It is part of the DCH Steel group of DCH. DMZ manufactures the largest range of channels and angles and is the only producer in Ukraine of channels with parallel flanges from 12 to 30, special profiles for mechanical engineering, crane rails, and mine rails.
