DMZ completes preparation of PC-1 for August rolling campaign

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ), part of DCH Steel, is finalizing preparations for Rolling Shop No. 1 (RS-1) for the first production campaign in 2024. Production is scheduled to start in the second half of August. This is stated in the DCH corporate newspaper.

In the first half of the year, during the downtime, the shop carried out important repairs of the main equipment, in particular, a major overhaul of the blooming manipulator of the 1050 mill. Repairs were also carried out at other areas, including the restoration of the refractory masonry of four heating wells of the recovery group.

Preparations for the rolling campaign began in July. The shop’s repairmen inspected and adjusted all mechanisms. The cranes were put out of service and prepared for operation. Last week, the shop restored water supply and checked the condition of pipelines and hydraulic equipment. Seven out of eight heating wells of the recovery group are ready for operation.

“The shop is ready to start production on August 15, but the final date will be determined based on the results of negotiations with the customer. It is expected to produce more than 2 thousand tons of rail products during the campaign,” the statement said.

As GMK Center reported earlier, DMZ did not produce rolled products in July, while in July 2023 it produced 13.3 thousand tons of the relevant products, and in the previous month – 2.4 thousand tons. At the same time, the company’s rolling mills shipped more than 1.5 thousand tons of rolled products produced in previous periods to customers.

In 2023, DMZ increased its rolled steel production by 86.2% compared to 2022, to 105.6 thousand tons. Last year, the company’s production of metallurgical coke increased by 38.5% compared to 2022, to 292.7 thousand tons.

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant is one of the largest metallurgical enterprises in Ukraine. It is part of DCH Steel, a division of DCH Group. DMZ produces the largest range of channels and angles in Ukraine. Currently, the company is the only domestic producer of special profiles for the machine building and mining industries.
