DMZ completes large-scale repair of quenching railcar No. 3

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ), part of DCH Steel, has completed a large-scale overhaul of the No. 3 quenching railcar of the coke and chemicals division. This is stated in the corporate newspaper DCH.

The specialized steel equipment repair shop (SSERS) replaced a significant part of the special railcar’s steel structures. In particular, they manufactured and installed new trusses, gates, and uprights that support the inclined body, and repaired the frame and gate opening mechanisms. In addition, the railcar received new lining plates cast at the molding shop of the Central Railroad Maintenance Department.

At the same time, the specialized coke and chemical equipment repair shop (SCCERS) inspected and repaired the mechanical part of the special transport. The railcar was assembled at the SSERS and delivered to the coke production facility.

The unit will be put into operation after the commissioning works are completed by the coke plant’s repairmen.

In October this year, DMZ repaired quenching railcar No. 1.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in the summer of 2024, DMZ resumed production of two types of coke – for steel and ferroalloy enterprises. To maintain product quality in the face of a shortage of raw materials, the company has significantly increased the number of incoming coal control tests.

In October 2024, the plant increased coke production by 1.9% compared to the previous month, but reduced it by 7.5% y/y – to 24.5 thousand tons. In January-October, the figure decreased by 1.2% y/y – to 242.6 thousand tons.

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant is one of the largest steel enterprises in Ukraine. It is part of DCH Steel, a division of DCH Group. DMZ produces the largest range of channels and angles in Ukraine. Currently, the company is the only domestic producer of special profiles for the machine building and mining industries.
