Metinvest's dugout modules are being used to equip command posts and hospitals

Since the beginning of the war, Ukrainian steel has been used to manufacture a variety of products needed by the Armed Forces, including anti-tank hedgehogs, plates for body armor, shovels and stoves, metal nets for vehicles, shelters and dugout modules. The bulk of these products are made from Zaporizhstal’s rolled plates and Kametstal’s rebar.

Dmytro Nikolayenko, Metinvest’s Commercial Director, told this in an interview with FAQ Talks.

Currently, the production of steel defense products has grown into a wide range of fortifications for various purposes.

“A lot of defense fortifications are being produced in Ukraine today. Almost all of them are made of Ukrainian steel products, including Zaporizhstal’s rolled steel and Kametstal’s rebar. We make dugout modules that are used to equip command posts, hospitals and recreation centers,” said Metinvest’s commercial director.

As previously reported, Metinvest has mastered the production of special protective screens for M113 armored personnel carriers and mine trawls, which the company produces in the amount of 5 units per month.

Over the three years of the full-scale invasion, Metinvest Group has allocated UAH 8.4 billion to support Ukraine. A significant portion of these funds, UAH 4.4 billion, was donated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the Steel Front initiative.

Metinvest also remains the largest taxpayer in the industry: in 2024, the company transferred UAH 19.8 billion to the budgets of all levels, which is 61% of the total taxes in the steel industry.
