Decarbonization and circular economy are becoming critically important – Eurocoke 2025 summit

Decarbonization and circular economy strategies are now becoming critically important for the iron and steel industry. This year’s Eurocoke 2025 summit, to be held in Amsterdam (Netherlands) on September 15-17, offers a comprehensive agenda built around innovation, regulation, and practical insights.

The event will bring together global leaders in the steel, coke, and coal industries to explore the future of carbon-conscious production, innovations in bio-coke, and global trade dynamics.

On September 15, delegates will have a rare opportunity to visit the Tata Steel plant in Eemeden, home to the pioneering HIsarna pilot project – a breakthrough process for producing pig iron that significantly reduces CO₂ emissions.

The theme of the first day (September 16) will be a discussion of global market forces and strategic prospects.

Key topics include:

  • The impact of global decarbonization on demand and pricing (Chris Bandmann, Wood Mackenzie);
  • The outlook for European steel production amid economic uncertainty (Alessandro Sciamarelli, EUROFER);
  • Changes in trade flows and pressure on regulatory costs in key markets;
  • The role of India and Peru in the future coke and anthracite supply chain;
  • The sustainability and prospects of Ukraine’s steel industry (Stanislav Zinchenko, GMK Center).

The day will end with a high-level panel discussion on navigating decarbonization around the world, with perspectives from Europe, Asia, and America.

Day two (September 17) will be devoted to discussing the technical and strategic limits of coke production. Presentations by Outokumpu, ERDEMIR, and the Institute of Energy and Fuel Processing Technologies will explore low-carbon coking strategies, scalability, and the profitability of bio-carbon.

As noted by JSW KOKS SA, Eurocoke is a must-visit event for every industry professional. Tata Steel adds that it is a great platform for business contacts in the coking industry.

The information partner of the event is GMK Center.
