Consumption of rolled steel in Ukraine fell by 6.2% in the first nine months of 2020

In January–September 2020, Ukraine reduced domestic consumption of rolled products by 6.2% to 3.3 million tons compared to the same period a year earlier.

This was reported by  Ukrmetallurgprom based on its own data and information from ETR-Spektr LLC.

The share of imports in the total volume of the rolled products market in Ukraine is 894.6 thousand tons, or 27.1%. Compared to January–September 2019, the share of imports reduced by 3.5%.

The share of flat products in total imports increased and exceeded that of rolled sections, 56.29% against 42.51%.

The following countries are currently the largest exporters of rolled products to Ukraine:

  • CIS — 35.8%;
  • EU — 24.4%;
  • Asia — 22.5%.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2019, Ukraine reduced domestic consumption of rolled products by 13.1% to 4.7 million tons y-o-y. On the other hand, the share of imports increased by 1.6% to 1.4 million tons.
