Construction work performed in Ukraine in January-July increased by 10% y/y

The index of construction work performed in Ukraine in January-July 2025 increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2024. This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service.

Non-residential construction experienced significant growth – by 28.7% y/y. Residential construction grew by 4.9% y/y, while the engineering construction segment saw growth of 2.4% y/y. Overall, construction of buildings (residential and non-residential) grew by 20.4% y/y.

In monetary terms, the volume of construction output in January-June amounted to UAH 117.75 billion, in particular, in the building sector – UAH 53.1 billion (UAH 16.64 billion – residential buildings; UAH 36.4 billion – non-residential), engineering structures – UAH 64.7 billion.

The share of new construction in the total volume of construction work performed in January-July of this year was 43.4%, repairs – 29%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment – 27.6%.

In July, construction in Ukraine grew by 44.5% y/y and decreased by 2.8% m/m, in particular:

  • buildings (+20.7% y/y; -0.6% m/m);
  • residential buildings (-0.1% y/y; -2.2% m/m);
  • non-residential buildings (+31.9% y/y; +0.1% m/m);
  • engineering structures (+65.8% y/y; -4.3% m/m).

As GMK Center reported earlier, the volume of construction work performed in Ukraine last year increased by 15.5% y/y – to UAH 204.7 billion. In terms of individual segments, the increase in the volume of construction work last year was as follows: residential construction – by 7.6% y/y – to UAH 26.6 billion; non-residential construction – an increase of 26.2% y/y, to UAH 57.7 billion; engineering structures – an increase of 12.5% y/y, to UAH 120.4 billion.

In 2024, new construction accounted for 41.1% of the total volume of construction work performed, repairs – 32.6%, and reconstruction and technical re-equipment – 26.3%.
