Construction output grew by 13.3% in October

In October 2020, Ukrainian companies increased the construction output by 13.3% against October last year and by 2.5% against September this year, according to the State Statistics Service.

In January–October 2020, the construction output in monetary terms amounted to ₴140.8 billion, 1.9% up from the same period of 2019.

According to unadjusted data, the residential construction output dropped by 18.7%, while engineering construction output increased by 10.6%. Non-residential construction output slightly decreased, by 0.6%.

The share of new construction in the total construction output was 37.6%, repair 34.8%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment 27.6%.

In January–October 2020, a growth in the construction output against the same period of 2019 was recorded in:

  • Vinnytsia oblast — ₴7.9 billion (+11%);
  • Volyn oblast — ₴1.6 billion (+1.3%);
  • Donetsk oblast — ₴6.4 billion (+39.9%);
  •  Kyiv oblast — ₴9.2 billion (+21%);
  • Lviv oblast — ₴9.6 billion (+15.3%);
  • Odesa oblast — ₴17.6 billion (+31.3%);
  • Poltava oblast — ₴6.3 billion (+3.2%);
  • Sumy oblast — ₴1.3 billion (+10%);
  • Khmelnytskyi oblast — ₴4.3 billion (+45.6%);
  • Cherkasy oblast — ₴1.6 billion (+5.5%);
  • Chernivtsi oblast — ₴1.6 billion (+5.1%);
  • Chernihiv oblast — ₴1.9 billion (+35.2%).

Other oblasts reported a decline in the construction output. In Kyiv, it fell by 6.2% to ₴31.1 billion.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2019, Ukraine’s construction products index increased by 20% against 2018. The highest trends in the segment were recorded in non-residential and engineering construction, an increase of 27.4% and 23.3% respectively. The residential construction index was up by just 3%.
