Central Mining modernized its pelletizing plant at a cost of UAH 40 million

A three-week repair campaign costing almost UAH 40 million has been completed at the pelletizing plant of Central Mining and Processing Plant (Central Mining), part of the Metinvest Group. During the shutdown, which lasted from mid-May to early June, major and maintenance repairs were carried out on key production units, according to a press release.

The main work involved the roasting machine. The last time such repairs were carried out was eight years ago. Specialists dismantled and replaced a set of rails on the working branch and seals, and installed a new grate cleaning mechanism. This increased the equipment’s productivity by 3 tons per hour and reduced gas and electricity costs.

For the first time since its launch, the Haver cup grinder was overhauled—the support unit was replaced and the motor was repaired. The work was carried out by employees of the company’s service department.

In addition, they partially replaced sections of the drip catchers on smoke extractor No. 2, a critical component for the stable operation of the kiln. As part of an experiment, ceramic lining with increased resistance to acids, temperatures, and abrasive wear was installed on smoke extractor No. 1.

The factory also upgraded three conveyor belts and repaired two 5-cubic-meter excavators. Thanks to high-quality maintenance, all production processes are currently running smoothly.

It should be noted that over the past year, the Central Mining has increased its production capacity and ended the year with nearly 100% capacity utilization. In particular, the Kolachevsky Mine achieved its planned productivity. In addition, the company has been actively working to reduce energy consumption and production costs by implementing innovative energy-efficient technologies.
