Central Mining has completed the overhaul of the classification section of the crushing plant

Metinvest Group’s Central Mining and Processing Plant (Central GOK) has completed a major overhaul of the crushing plant’s classification building. The company allocated UAH 2.4 million for the project. This is stated in a press release by Metinvest.Media.

“Metinvest’s Central GOK continues to carry out systematic repairs of equipment to ensure uninterrupted production and avoid downtime. As part of the investment program, the company overhauled the classification building of the crushing plant,” the statement said.

The equipment of the classification building is a reloading unit for the transportation of dry magnetic separation tailings. The equipment includes a screen and a classifier to remove dirt from the tailings. The process produces clean crushed stone used in the construction of roads and railways.

The overhaul of the classification section took four months. The key works included strengthening the load-bearing structures of columns and beams, replacing the metal structures of equipment maintenance areas (screens, conveyors), as well as the metal structures of the fence and sump. The metal structures were also given anti-corrosion protection. To improve working conditions, the concrete floor was restored, and additional drainage trays were installed.

“The work performed has significantly improved safety for employees, minimizing the risk of injury, and ensured the stability of the classification equipment,” said Olexander Ivashura, head of the crushing plant at Central GOK.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest Group’s mining and processing plants utilized a total of UAH 2.3 billion in investments to maintain production capacity in 2023.

Last year, we completed an important energy efficiency project at Central GOK. Pumping equipment was replaced at the facilities of the sludge management and technical power supply shops to reduce electricity costs. The company also launched a project to build a complex of treatment equipment to provide the plant’s facilities with drinking water. In addition, the plant continues to implement a program to improve working conditions even during the war.
