Upgrading the conveyors and firing machine ensured stable operation of the equipment

The Central Mining and Processing Plant (Central Mining), part of the Metinvest Group, has completed another scheduled overhaul of its pelletizing plant, a key unit for the manufacture of commercial products. This was reported by Metinves.Media.

Such work is carried out twice a year at the enterprise and is aimed at restoring and replacing critically important technological equipment. During the autumn shutdown, the main focus was on conveyor transport and the roasting machine.

The key measures were the replacement of conveyor belts and the renewal of refractory lining. In total, new belts were installed on seven conveyors that transport ore, raw and fired pellets. To replace the lining of the firing machine, 120 tons of refractory materials were used. According to Andriy Ivanov, deputy head of the pelletizing plant’s engineering department, this work is crucial for the safe and continuous operation of the equipment.

The repairs were carried out by employees of the plant and the combine’s service department, in particular the mechanical repairs section No. 1 and the preventive and major repairs section No. 4. In order to meet the deadlines, the repair crews worked around the clock, seven days a week. As part of the campaign, the Venturi pipes No. 2 and No. 3 of the D-2 smoke extractor were replaced for the first time, and the crowns of the cup pelletizers were also updated.

After completion of the work, the equipment underwent a commission acceptance test with the participation of representatives of the production and service departments, the mechanical service, and occupational safety specialists. Currently, the pelletizing plant is operating normally and at full capacity.

«The pelletizing plant of Central Mining systematically takes care of the proper technical condition of the equipment. Twice a year, we carry out complete maintenance and repairs of the entire production complex. After all, timely replacement and re-equipment of the technological chain allows us to consistently manufacture high-quality products for our consumers and be a reliable pillar of Ukraine’s economy,» said Andriy Zhilkinsky, head of the Central Mining pelletizing plant.

In May, Central Mining completed a three-week repair campaign worth almost UAH 40 million. During the shutdown, major, and maintenance repairs were carried out on key production units, including the calciner, cup pelletizer, smoke extractor No. 2, three conveyor belts, and excavators.
