Central Mining allocated over UAH 28 million to upgrade railroad tracks

Central Mining and Processing Plant (Central GOK), a part of Metinvest Group, is carrying out overhaul of railway tracks, allocating more than UAH 28 million for this purpose. This is stated in the press release of Metinvest.Media.

By the end of the year, repair crews plan to upgrade nearly 1.5 km of railroad tracks.

In general, Central GOK has an extensive system of railways with a total length of 270 km. This year, in addition to routine maintenance and repairs, the specialists of the Track and Yard Shop of the Railway Transport Department of the Centralized Plant are carrying out major overhauls of a number of tracks and turnouts.

Currently, 400 meters of track have been overhauled on the section between Rokuvata and Administrative Center stations. Last month, work continued at Unloading station: track No. 2 and track No. 6 were replaced, both 200 meters long. Also, 200 meters of track were restored in the direction of Artemivka quarry: on the Artemivka – Vidvalna stretch. The railway workers also repaired five turnouts: three at Industrial Site station and one turnout each at Unloading and Artemivka.

“Railways are an important component of production logistics, as the majority of cargo is delivered to the plant by rail, and the key to efficient transportation is primarily the condition of the tracks. This fall’s work is large-scale, involving the overhaul of almost 1.5 km of tracks. In particular, this will ensure the safety and reliability of traffic on the routes for the delivery of ore from the open pits and Kolachevsky mine to the crushing plant, as well as during the transportation of other goods for production needs,” said Olexander Mukha, Head of the Railway Transport Department of the Central Mining and Processing Plant.

Earlier, Central GOK allocated UAH 2.4 million to upgrade the equipment of the crushing plant. The company replaced the crushing cone of the KKD 1500/180 crusher, which is one of the largest units of the crushing plant. It is responsible for the first stage of crushing ore from the open pit. The next stage of repairs is to replace the belt on the K-1 conveyor.
