Cargo transportation in Ukraine dropped by 15% in January–April

In January–April 2020, rail cargo transportation in Ukraine fell by 15.3% to 184.8 million tons compared to the same period of the previous year,

according to the State Statistics Service.

In April, the cargo transportation reduction index increased:

  • in January–March it was 14.9%;
  • in January–February 16%;
  • in January 20.7 compared to the same periods of the past year.

In January–April, rail transportation decreased by 7.5% to 96.8 million tons, road transportation by 20.2% to 57.6 thousand tons compared to the same period of the previous year.

Water transportation dropped by 2.9% to 1.3 million tons, pipe transportation by 27.3% to 29.1 million tons, and air transportation by 9.3% to 0.02 million tons.

In 2019, cargo transportation by all means of transport grew by 2.1%.
