Available scrap decreased by 12% in January–September

In January–September 2020, scrap available to Ukrainian steelmaking companies reduced by 12% to 2.093 thousand tons y-o-y, according to the updated statistics of Ukrmetallurgprom.

Of these, 2.068 thousand tons of scrap supplied to Ukrainian steelmakers were imported, 12% down from January–September 2019.

In the nine months, Ukraine’s scrap exports reduced by 39% to 25 thousand tons.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in September 2020, scrap supplies to Ukrainian steel companies grew by 16% to 271.9 thousand tons y-o-y. In the period January to September, however, scrap supplies went down by 11.9% to 2.1 million tons compared to the same period a year earlier.
