ArcelorMittal to launch a second blast furnace in early May

PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is going to launch blast furnace No. 8 on May 2. It was stated by Mauro Longobardo, CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, according to the company’s corporate newspaper.

“One of these days we are planning to resume the operation of blast furnace No. 6. Loading with raw materials, blowing up the kiln, and the first cast iron» – this process will go down in history, as well as we will do it during the war”, – said Mauro Longobardo.

In addition, by the end of April, the plant expects to reach 100% utilization level of the mining department, and by May 10, be able to export iron ore concentrate from ore processing plant No. 1.

According to the General Director of the enterprise, now it all depends on the military situation, as well as restructuring of logistics of raw materials, and finished products.

“Managers of the enterprise, and corporation, as well as the Ukrainian government, are actively working on organizing these processes”, the message said.

The company is going to continue to pay wages to all employees, and for this to restore production to the maximum extent possible.

Now the enterprise launched the mining department, and the work of the coke shop is also maintained.

As a reminder, ArcelorMittal plans to launch blast furnace No. 6 in April after the forced shutdown in March. After the launch of the blast furnace, the enterprise is going to resume the operation of the continuous casting machine.

As a reminder, on March 3, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih began to stop metallurgical production. The coking shop is operating at hot idle, while the mining department is operating at the minimum capacity.

In March, the plant shipped 320 thousand tons of iron ore concentrate to consumers, while in February exported 200 thousand tons of raw materials. The plant is going to ship in April 500 thousand tons of iron ore concentrate.
