ArcelorMittal Poland has completed preparations for the restart of blast furnace No. 3 at its site in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The project cost 60 million zlotys, and its implementation is expected to restore the plant’s full production capacity, according to a press release.
The company announced the completion of the work during the official launch of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Huta Katowice steelworks.
The company emphasizes that steel production in Poland remains a strategic area of development, and the site in Dąbrowa Górnicza is an important part of the national industrial supply chain.
In addition to the launch of blast furnace No. 3, ArcelorMittal Poland is launching another project worth 60 million zlotys—the modernization of the aspiration systems for the sinter belt conveyors and the sinter screening unit. The investment is aimed at further reducing the environmental impact of production.
In total, in the first half of 2026 alone, the company is implementing investment projects in Dąbrowa Górnicza worth over 120 million zlotys. Since 2004, ArcelorMittal Poland’s total investment in Polish assets has reached nearly 11.5 billion zlotys.
The company also emphasized the importance of local sourcing. ArcelorMittal Poland works with approximately 3,000 suppliers in the country, including JSW, PKP Cargo, Orlen, and Tauron.
The company believes that investments in quality, energy efficiency, and modernization are the key response to pressure from cheap steel imports from outside the European Union.
As a reminder, ArcelorMittal Poland has invested 100 million zlotys in a series of environmental and technical upgrades at its plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The projects are aimed at reducing dust emissions, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing production safety.
