On July 19, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih announced massive checks of Territorial Centre of Recruitment and Social Support (TCR) on the way to the plant. As a result, some of the staff could not get to their workplaces on time, which caused a disruption in production. This is stated in the company’s Facebook post.
“Such actions have jeopardized the production processes of our company, which is trying to survive and work for the state and TCR in today’s environment. In particular, due to the actions of the TCC, there was no timely acceptance and transfer of the work shift, one of the key units of rolling production was stopped and the company suffered losses in the production of rolled products,” ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih said.
As noted, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih always operates within the legal framework and cooperates with government agencies, including in the field of mobilization. Currently, more than 3,000 of its employees are in the ranks of the Armed Forces, 167 of them have been killed. The company’s booking processes are transparent and in accordance with the law.
“We consider the actions of the TCR representatives to be demotivating and threatening to further shut down the company’s production units. We hope that these processes will be streamlined and will take into account the specifics and importance of the uninterrupted operation of a strategic enterprise, which is the largest foreign investment in Ukraine and the largest mining and metallurgical plant in Ukraine,” the company said in a statement.
As GMK Center reported earlier, a shortage of staff can put the iron and steel sector on the brink of survival. According to the Federation of Steelmakers of Ukraine, the average number of full-time employees at the association’s enterprises has fallen from 126,000 to 71,000 over the two years of full-scale hostilities. Mobilization is the key factor behind the staff shortage. More than 15% of the total number of employees, or more than 20 thousand people, have already been mobilized at the mining and metals companies. Migration also has a negative impact on the sector.
