PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plans to launch coke oven batteries No. 3 and No. 4 on April 21-24, 2024. This is stated in the press release of the company.
«ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is gradually resuming its operations, overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression. Previously, we operated at only 25% of capacity, but now the company is gradually increasing production every day. This, in turn, will lead to an increase in the number of jobs and more taxes for our hometown and the Ukrainian economy,» the statement said.
The additional coke and chemical capacities will provide raw materials for increased blast furnace production.
In the first quarter of 2024, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih produced 245 thousand tons of blast furnace coke. The indicator increased by 60.1% y/y and 16.1% q/q. Steel production at the enterprise during this period increased by 93% y/y and 11.2% q/q to 278 thousand tons. The company managed to achieve these results despite Russian attacks against the domestic energy infrastructure and the resulting power outages.
In 2024, ArcelorMittal plans to increase capacity utilization from 25% to 50%. In particular, it plans to maximize the utilization of the mining division, and in the second quarter of this year, in April, to launch the metallurgical division with two blast furnaces. The company recently completed an extended repair of BF No. 6.
