ANNOUNCEMENT: review of the economy «What prevents steel production from growing?»

On October 15, the Center for Economic Strategy (CES) together with the German Economic Team (GET) invites you to the review of the economy in September with a special topic: «What prevents steel production from growing?».

Ukrainian steel industry adapted to work in conditions of full-scale Russian aggression. According to the Center of Central and Eastern Europe, during the eight months of 2024, the production of the main types of steel products increased by 21-31% year-on-year. At the same time, world prices for iron ore have fallen by 36% since the beginning of the year, the cost of steel currently hovers at $420/t, which is due, in particular, to pressure on the global market for cheaper Chinese products.

Experts will discuss what factors prevent Ukrainian steelmakers from working at full capacity. In particular, it will be about the state of production facilities, security risks, logistics and adverse conditions on world markets.

In addition, as part of the traditional format, CES experts will review the main changes in the country’s economy for September.
