The North American Green Steel Summit 2025, organized by ECV International, will take place on October 28-29, 2025, in Detroit (USA).
The event will bring together key stakeholders to exchange ideas and strategies for the future of green steel.
The metallurgical industry, like other industrial sectors around the world, is striving to improve operational efficiency by focusing more on advanced production technologies that increase energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
North America has become a leader in sustainable steel production. The region has achieved the lowest average carbon intensity per ton of steel produced in the world. This progress is underpinned by the high level of use of electric arc furnace technology, which currently accounts for 70% of North American steel production. It is also facilitated by advances in recycling, which allow for the recovery of more than 80 million tons of scrap annually.
Looking ahead, the focus is shifting toward optimizing existing production processes, improving resource utilization, and increasing overall competitiveness in the global market. However, critical challenges remain key to achieving these ambitious goals, including modernizing energy infrastructure and harmonizing cross-border policies.
The conference will discuss achievements in low-carbon technologies, the changing political landscape, and opportunities for cooperation to accelerate decarbonization. The discussions are aimed at achieving practical results that will not only strengthen the region’s leadership in green steel production but also contribute to global efforts to achieve a sustainable future.
