ANNOUNCEMENT: North American Green Steel Summit 2024

The North American Green Steel Summit 2024 conference, organized by ECV International, will be held in Detroit, USA, on October 28-29 this year.

The event will bring together North American steel industry professionals and other stakeholders to discuss trends in the development and transformation of green steel in the region, explore in-depth the latest advances in carbon reduction in the sector, and outline the leading role for the future development of the steel industry in North America and even globally.

Due to the growing climate challenges the world is facing, low-carbon development is increasingly gaining global acceptance. The green transformation of industry is the key to addressing environmental, energy and resource issues.

The steel industry is the largest polluter on the planet, accounting for 7% of total greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activity.

North America has made a commitment to decarbonization, and this process is proceeding at a significant pace. The region currently has the lowest carbon steel production in the world. This is the result of a combination of economic, financial and technological factors that have made the North American steel industry a model for green steel production.

North America has advanced technologies, abundant renewable energy resources and a favorable environment for innovation in green steel production. However, to achieve sustainable, rapid and high-quality development in the future, the region needs to address a number of challenges, such as

  • technical economy,
  • transformation of energy infrastructure,
  • political support,
  • industrial chain coordination,
  • environmental and social licensing.

According to the market report, the North America region is the highly profitable green steel market during the period 2023 to 2032.

The main topics of the conference:
