ANNOUNCEMENT: EUROMETAL Regional Meeting

On June 22, 2023, the EUROMETAL Central Europe regional meeting will be held in Krakow, Poland, dedicated to the current state of the steel industry and its prospects.

The participants of the event will discuss the state of key markets in Central Europe, product supply models, green steel, demand for products and end users. The conference will also consider the impact of the war in Ukraine on Central European steel producers, the nuances of introducing the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) and regulatory measures regarding the steel market.

17 speakers will take part in the conference, including:

  • Anthony de Carvalho – head of the OECD steelmaking division;
  • Iwona Dybał – president of the Polish Association of Steel Shareholders (PUDS);
  • Roland Fazekas –CEO of Carboferr/President of MAFE;
  • Jan Moravec – CEO of Ferona;
  • Andreas du Plessis – managing director of Europe Reibus;
  • Colin Richardson – head of Steel Argus Media;
  • Alexander Siryk – CEO of Metals Consulting International (MCI);
  • Adam Shevchyk – Chairman of the World Association for Data Management;
  • Stanislav Zinchenko – CEO of GMK Center.

At the event, the GMK Center will present research on how Ukrainian steel industry continues to work in war conditions and remains a reliable partner of Europe.

Background: EUROMETAL is the European Federation of steel tubes and metals sales and trade. It was founded in 1950 as the European Coal and Steel Community between Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. EUROMETAL represents and promotes the interests of member associations and member companies. Currently, it includes national federations for the distribution of steel, metals and pipes, as well as distribution, SSC and trading companies carrying out cross-border activities in European OECD countries.
