AMKR to invest more than UAH 500 million in environmental projects in 2019

In May, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih completed a series of extensive repairs of environmental equipment. According to the company’s website, the total amount of environmental investment will exceed UAH 500 million in 2019.

Specifically, the company spent UAH 3.2 million for the repair of the dust and gas cleaning plant of BOF No. 5. In addition, sections of the wall tubes of the water cooler of BOF gases and quenching pumps in BOF No. 5 were replaced, the swing drive of BOF, the spray nozzles system of the 1st and 2nd steps of BOF gas cleaning, booster equipment, and the flare stack for carbon-dioxide combustion were inspected.

The company spent over UAH 1.5 million for the repair of the gas cleaning plant of the twin hearth furnace No. 6. Efficient performance of the gas cleaner has been confirmed by post-repair equipment readings.

Besides, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih completed the repair of the sinter machine No. 3 in the sinter shop No. 2. The clean gas duct and the casing of exhauster with the capacity of up to 720 thousand cubic meters per hour, were repaired. A total of UAH 6.2 million were allocated for the repair of gas cleaning equipment of the sinter machine No. 3 in the sinter shop No. 2.

Earlier, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih completed the extensive repair of environmental equipment — the gas cleaner of the blast furnace No. 6. Repair costs exceeded UAH 600 thousand. Around UAH 2 million were saved on contractor services (repair works were performed by the company’s own maintenance staff).

As reported earlier, AMKR signed a contract worth $30 million with Chinese CISDI to modernize the blast furnace No. 9. The contract provides for engineering services, supply of main equipment, its installation under the manufacturer’s control, supervision and staff training.

Also, AMKR will reconstruct the wire mill No. 1. The project is based on the engineering solutions and technologies of Danieli, a supplier of equipment for the steelmaking and metals sectors.
