AMKR invested ₴389.2 million in environmental projects in H1

In January–June 2020, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih PJSC spent ₴389.2 million for the implementation of environmental projects and repairs of environmental fixed assets,

according to the Company’s press service.

AMKR continues reconstructing the sinter shop No. 2 to reduce dust emissions. In general, four out of the six sinter machines of the shops No. 1, 4, 5, 6, are already upgraded. As a result, dust emissions from each sinter machine decreased by an average of 80%.

The installation of an electrostatic precipitator on the second sinter machine is under way and the reconstruction of the third one will start at the end of this year.

In January–June, the Company earmarked over ₴19 million for scheduled and preventive maintenance of environmental equipment. AMKR reconstructed coal winning installations of beneficiation plants and repaired gas-cleaning equipment of the steam and gas shop. Besides, in H1, AMKR replaced the water supply circuit at the pumping station No. 9.

In 2006 to 2019, AMKR invested a total of ₴7 billion in environmental activities and projects. Over this time, the Company reconstructed 130 gas-cleaning units.

“In the next 3–4 years, the Company is expected to allocate $700 million for environmental activities, being integral parts of key investment projects, such as the construction of a new pelletizing plant,” the press release said.

As GMK Center reported earlier, AMKR invested $117 million in production development in H1, including $61.6 million in capital investment and $55.6 million in operating costs.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih PJSC is an integrated steelmaking company, a part of the ArcelorMittal Group. Its activity covers the entire production route from iron ore mining and coke production to manufacture of finished metal products. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih produces semi-finished and long products.
