Acciaierie di Verona
Italian steel company Acciaierie di Verona, part of the Pittini Group, has completed the construction of a new production unit for the production of Jumbo® Stretched rebar. This is a strategic investment aimed at diversifying production, expanding the product portfolio and increasing the company’s competitiveness in the construction steel market, according to a press release.
The new shop, located on the territory of the main plant, specializes in cold processing and coiling of reinforcing wire. Thanks to state-of-the-art equipment, it produces coiled rebar that is widely used in reinforced concrete construction.
The production is fully automated and equipped to the latest industrial standards. Among the key advantages is a real-time monitoring system for the stretching process, which allows for consistent quality of finished products.
The new line includes rebar in coils with diameters ranging from 12 to 16 mm and weights from 2.5 to 6 tons, which fully meets the needs of the construction industry. This format ensures ease of transportation and efficiency on the construction site.
This step allows Acciaierie di Verona not only to strengthen its position in the Italian market, but also emphasizes its commitment to innovation, quality and sustainable development in the production of steel products.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024, Italy reduced steel production by 5% compared to 2023, to 20 million tons. In December 2024, Italian steelmakers reduced steel production by 8.8% compared to December 2023 and by 33.4% – to 1.199 million tons.
Long products production for the year amounted to 11.7 million tonnes, down 0.2% compared to 2023, and flat products production amounted to 8.6 million tonnes (-9.7% y/y). Thus, long products output experienced only a slight decline, supported by increased construction activity. At the same time, the weakness of the automotive sector and industry, as well as high volumes of competitive imports, had a negative impact on flat products.
